2011: now with that fresh, new year smell!

I had originally planned on doing a couple of posts somewhere between last Thursday’s meatfest and today, but the last week’s been kind of crazy.

Because I’m lazy and don’t feel like duplicating efforts, I have decided that my Christmas shall be documented in picture form. Easier on the eyes, and easier on my fingers. Click here to see the whole story.

One thing that is not pictured in that album is the last gift I got from my parents yesterday after they stopped by the Le Creuset store in the South Bend outlet mall:

This shall serve as the vessel in which I make many tasty things.

Behold, the 4.5qt Le Creuset enameled cast iron dutch oven. Personally, I would have preferred to hang onto my grill and add this to my kitchen, but that’s the way things are I suppose. I sent the grill to my parents’ place last night, which was entirely more work than I ever wanted it to be. It took 3 guys nearly an hour trying to wrestle it into one of two different SUVs before we decided to take the lid off and put it in that way.

I also took down the Christmas decorations today, hopefully bringing an end to Sam’s reign of terror in my living room over the last month. The apartment looks pretty bare now without the garland and tree, but I kind of like it that way. It feels bigger this way.

My only other major accomplishment today, aside from getting Sam to hiss when I brought the vacuum out to clean up the office, was sorting through and deleting over 4,000 emails that have been piling up in my MobileMe account since May 2007. It didn’t take quite as long as I had expected it would, and I’m hoping to do the same number to my Exchange mailbox tomorrow; that one’s got somewhere around 5,500 messages, and cleaning them out won’t be quite as simple, but I suspect once I do it Outlook will be able to handle my inbox and my MobileMe account again.

Tomorrow is the inaugural game of A-Team Soccer, which I’m fairly excited about. We managed to pull a team together from 4 people, and while I’m still pretty irked that I get to start the whole indoor soccer experience all over again, I think it will be worth it. So, Google bots, be sure to check back tomorrow around 8:30 for the results.
