The one lousy thing about a job in the IT field is that things are always changing. Microsoft (when they have it together) puts out a new client and server OS every 3 years or so, and that means that IT folks have to stay current. Instead of going back to school, they get re-certified. Previously, the industry standard for your average IT genius was MCSE, but a few years ago Microsoft decided to add some more letters and change a few things up, and now the equivalent certification level is MCITP: Enterprise Administrator. Passing the five component exams has become a major goal for me professionally in the next year. Today I passed the Windows 7 component part of the exam (I had previously passed the Windows Vista exam as well, but that test may soon be retired in the same way that the Windows XP exam I passed has been retired). Below are the tests I have to take and pass in order to get my MCITP Enterprise Admin certification [source].
I have to pass each of the following exams:
Exam 70-640: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring
Exam 70-642: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
Exam 70-643: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring
Exam 70-647: Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administrator
I also have to pass at least one of these:
Exam 70-620: Configuring Microsoft Windows Vista Client (Passed in December 2009)
Exam 70-624: Deploying and Maintaining Windows Vista Client and 2007 Microsoft Office System Desktops
Exam 70-680: Windows 7, Configuring (Passed in August 2011)
Exam 70-681: Windows 7 and Office 2010, Deploying
I’ve got four exams left…wonder how quickly I can nail them?
