I suppose that’s why we practice these things. Including running. My showdown with the treadmill was this morning, and I managed to hit my goal. I did two quarter-mile “laps” at a reasonable pace (read: brisk jog), then a lap at a brisk walking pace, and then a final lap at the reasonable pace to finish out. One mile, 13ish minutes. It’s a good starting point.
Because I’m equally driven to do running things and biking things this coming year, I’ll probably alternate between the treadmill and the exercise bike in the mornings. It varies the workout for my legs, I get a good cardio workout either way, and then the girl that uses the treadmill in the mornings can still use it. Everybody wins.
