After a snowy first two weeks in December, followed by a general thaw that culminated in a 55 degree New Years Eve, winter finally decided to come back to Michigan for the new year and brought a fair amount of snow with it. Having had the day off yesterday to relax, I decided to get out and do something today, so I grabbed my camera, threw on my long underwear, and drove down the road to the beach.
I can only remember one time in my life before that I’ve been to the beach in the winter; it was closer to March and the ice along the shore was breaking up into these giant chunks of ice that bobbed on the lake, and I think I was about ten. This trip was a little different.
There isn’t really much to say about the beach in the winter. It’s cold. It’s also extremely windy; after freezing for a few minutes watching the lake, I turned around and noticed that my tracks were already starting to get erased. I was a little tempted to walk out onto the ice and get a bit closer to the edge, but being on my own, I decided to not risk death.
I had also planned on walking around one of the trails on the way back, but I was pretty cold at that point so I just went back home and finally got around to ordering some more Nespresso pods for my machine. I had originally intended to just order 2 or 3 sleeves of pods because I have about 2 espressos a week at home, but I wound up going with their special welcome kit. 100 pods, plus a “discovery” box (I suspect they teleport the coffee to the box so that I can discover it from time to time), all for only $110. I debated against going for it, but I figure this will last me until my birthday if not longer.
Finally, I leave you with a link to what may be the ugliest house $60 million can buy you.
