Tonight was our last outdoor game for the season against the Rangers. For the 99% of you who have no idea who they are, they’re the soccer team that keep flipping back and forth between the lower division (which we’re at the bottom of) and the upper division (which we don’t even want to comprehend playing against). The Rangers are a mix of players who have either been playing together for 5+ years and have good chemistry and have organically grown more talented, or are players who are fresh out of high school/college soccer and are used to playing with people who know what they’re doing.
Also, my boss is on that team. And a few other people I work with.
It’s not to say that the Rangers cannot be beat; we’ve been up against them at the half in games this season and run out of steam, and we’ve held them to a 2-point lead at one other point. However, generally speaking, we do not do well against them. Tonight was no different, as shown in our 0-9 loss.
The good news, however, is that running around on the field, then leaving the field for a few minutes, then running around on the field again did not wreck my ankle. I could feel some pain, but not the kind of tight throbbing that keeps me from walking normally. Not wrecking my ankle tonight was priority 1, and I’d say it was a success. If I can get through the 2 miles on the treadmill Thursday morning, I’ll consider myself good to go for the 5K this weekend.
Here’s hoping.
