I’m so glad to have October behind me. So glad, in fact, that I just had to celebrate last night:
I won the bet with my friend and completed the October vegetarian challenge. It wasn’t quite as easy as I had expected, but it also wasn’t a huge hardship (although not being able to do much in the way of cooking anything the second half of the month helped). I picked up a few new recipes along the way, and revisited a few recipes that I hadn’t really been using lately since I got the grill.
What excites me most, however, isn’t the return of the red meat. I had a follow-up appointment with the specialist on Monday, and got upgraded to a flexible brace that lets me bend my knee. I’ve almost got my full range of motion back in my leg, although I’m still seeing a lot of swelling in my ankle. I’ve got another appointment a few days before Thanksgiving, and there’s a chance that I’ll be able to start putting weight on my leg at that point. I may be busting out my flame cane (part of a Dr. House Halloween costume), but it’ll be a lot easier than trying to move around on crutches.
Here’s hoping this month goes better than the last.
